A Stretch Of The Imagination – Calisthenics For The Mind: E-Ball

The most powerful vision you possess is your imagination. We humans live in a world completely created by what we’ve been able to imagine so far.  The wheel rolls directly to plasma physics and keeps rolling on and beyond. Sometimes the imagination can see so far into the future that the means of creating what the imagination already sees-eludes, for that moment-our reach.  Just ask Leonardo da Vinci.  But as Einstein himself said, “Imagination is more important than knowledge.”

Imagine what the world will be like tomorrow with what you can imagine today. I can imagine 3-D television with free edible samples when food commercials come on. Self-cleaning clothes. Telescopic eye implants. Teleportation. Cities in the sky.  -And that’s all from just looking around at the world I live in today.

Where do these ideas come from? All ideas come from the simple act of wondering. Wondering is the prime motivator of your imagination.  When you challenge yourself to take the time to wonder every chance you get -you experience a literal wonderland filled with more ideas about your world and your life than you’ve probably ever had before.

Now from the word imagination think “Image.” You can focus on any image with that internal 3-D home theatre known as your brain.  This act is called “Imaging.” It is the art and craft of envisioning things in your mind’s eye (another word for your imagination) before bringing them into your reality. This means the most amazing things to improve your life and the lives of others can come right out of your head -just as the proverbial light bulb came out of Thomas Edison’s.

Now, to keep the momentum up and running from our last two exercises-let’s do exactly that. Let’s image something in our minds and then manifest it into our realities.

–Let’s play a game designed help you look at the world around you with the ever-strengthening vision of your own imagination.

It can empower you to not only wonder and see what could be reality tomorrow -it can enable you to face anything and find a positive answer -today.

Your imagination is energy that creates energy. It is pure energy that comes out of your consciousness as condensation comout of your breath. We’re going to look at that energy. Literally.

When I consult my Webster’s New World dictionary and look up the definition of “energy” what I find is 1: force of expression or utterance, 2: potential forces; inherent power, 3: capacity for vigorous action, 4: strength or power efficiently exerted and 5: –as in physics-the capacity for doing work and overcoming resistance.

So let’s create some new energy and see if that increases your own inherent power, force of expression, capacity for doing work and overcoming the natural resistance this world amply supplies in infinite ways:

I-STRETCH #3: THE GAME OF E-BALL

When you come to fully comprehend that you are a being made of energy, the realization that it is possible to see that energy flow within you and without you, follows naturally.  So ask yourself:

Can your now-flexing imagination really create pure energy in the palm of your hands? The answer dwells as a giant understatement in the land of Duh.

It’s Time To Play Some E-Ball!

  1. Find any place you feel most comfortable-sit or stand.
  2. Open the palms of your hands and put your wrists together so your hand resembles a goblet.
  3. Fill that goblet with energy—until it reaches the top.
  4. See that energy as a mass of shimmering light particles swirling endlessly in on themselves like a miniature sun.
  5. Now, image the energy into the shape of a ball. Any color.
  6. Slowly tip the ball into your right hand and gently move that hand, watching your energy ball nest in your palm – as you stretch your right arm and your left arm both out straight, turning yourself into the letter t, holding both palms up.
  7. Keep your eye on the ball.
  8. When you’re ready, gently springboard the ball up in an arc slightly in front of you, so that you can watch it slowly rise in the air -fly over you and land in your left hand.
  9. Now flip the ball back to your right hand.
  10. Repeat this pass of your energy ball back and forth from hand to hand at least six times. So long as you keep your eye on the ball you can do this as fast as you can imagine that ball to move.
  11. Let the ball land back into your right hand and bounce it gently up onto the tip of your index finger. Spin it with your left hand and then flip it over to your left index finger and spin it now with your right hand. Return it to your right index finger and let the ball roll gently back into your palm.
  12. Draw your hands back into the shape of the goblet.
  13. Open your hands up more to allow the Ball to grow larger. Let the ball grow to the size of a volleyball.
  14. Staring at the ball, slowly let both of your hands come to your sides-and suspend the ball in mid-air exactly at eye-level.
  15. Start the ball spinning in mid-air before you.
  16. Make it rise one foot higher and then another foot higher.
  17. Let the ball come back down to your eye-level.
  18. Orbit the ball around you, either way, circling you at least eight times.
  19. Now stop it in front of you and shrink it down to the size of a golf ball.
  20. Imagine the ball slowly expanding from that golf ball to a baseball to a basketball into the size of a ball large enough to get into.
  21. Draw your energy ball to you and let the ball envelope you.
  22. Put the ball back in front of you and shrink it down to a baseball.
  23. Take that ball and absorb it into your head, savor it there for a moment and then put it back in front of you.
  24. Repeat the same process this time putting the ball into your chest.  Feel that energy in your heart and in your soul.
  25. Bring the ball back in front of you again.
  26. Repeat all 25 steps until you can do anything you like with your energy ball: Fling it like a Frisbee. Sling it like a boomerang. Coil it into a slinky. Taper the ends into a football.
  27. Find a partner to practice this with.
  28. Create one energy ball between the two of you.
  29. No energy-ball fights! Someone could literally lose their head. Never underestimate the power of your own imagination!

E-Ball has the added benefit of improving any sport you like from golf to bowling, to soccer, croquette even badminton and curling. Use E-Ball as a practice session before your real game.

E-Ball won’t just sharpen your mind’s eye-it will sharpen your actual reflexes.

E-Ball’s illustrious forerunner  was “Shadow Ball,” used exactly for that purpose.  Invented in the early 20th century by African American baseball players, they used it to hone their own playing skills. It became so popular, they would hold a practice game of Shadow Ball before the real event. Ballplayers would image that energy so well, people in the grandstands believed they saw a ball flying all over the field.

Truth is – they did.

Now you can, too.

Get ready for more I-Stretches.

There’s no limit to what you can do with just a stretch of the imagination.
